intentions

I’m one of those people who do not get excited about the new year. I look forward to it but not the celebration and all the festivities.

I spent the New Year’s eve eating, taking videos of my son opening his gifts. No fireworks, loud music or coin-tossing.

It might be an age thing, I don’t know. I just don’t get the hype. It’s a new year, big deal. Not to sound grumpy, but every day is a new day.

For me, the best thing about the new year is the renewed mindset of people. Your resolutions might last for a week or a month. Who cares?

It’s the willingness and courage that matter. Willingness to improve, and courage to try.

And this is where I lay out my ‘goals’ for the year. I guess they are themes rather than goals.

So I’m thinking of these three overarching intentions I want to live by this year:

Manage finances wisely

I set some checkpoints that I want to accomplish throughout the year (net worth, investments).

Handle emotions better

I got angry a lot in 2024. As a result, I wrote a lot.

This year, I want to tame my emotions somehow. Be more calm, hopefully.

Create more

I’ve been writing songs since I was a teen, as an outlet, for my own consumption. This year I want to go back to that hobby so I need to be inspired more.

Also I want to be more active in this blog. And should the words permit, I want to share more.

Exercise more

I can say that I’m a relatively active person. Running is my hobby and primary exercise. From time to time, I do cycle and lift weights at home. I also had my first (and only) hike last year. Now I want to go to more hikes and focus on strength training.

There are also two or three things that I want to learn this year. And hopefully, I get to find time for them.

The list isn’t set in stone. Let’s not be rigid. Life happens, so things change.

If you’re still here, drop me an email. Say hi. I’m not really good with conversations, but I’ll try.

just yearning for some connection
