Not everything needs an essay

Lately, I’ve been exploring micro.blog so I haven’t had the time to sit down, gather my thoughts and share anything here in the past few days.

The idea of owning your content on the web that micro.blog promotes is interesting. Digital independence, creative freedom. You know, those things.

Though it’s not a new concept, I’m just discovering how it’s implemented and am eager to try it out. I like that it encourages shorter, casual posts, freeing me from self-imposed pressure of posting an essay for every thought.

Now I’ve been thinking how to best utilize Bear and micro.blog, as I’d like to keep them both.

I recently shared a post about how I was torn between keeping this blog simple and tweaking, exploring different looks for it. After that, I removed most of the add-ons, kept a little CSS and decided to just focus on writing and publishing sharing.

I love Bear and I will keep the long-form posts here. It has been the home for my longer reflections, and I plan to keep it that way.

On the other hand, I find micro.blog ideal for general life documentation (updates, sharing photos, book tracking, weeknotes). It will also handle my frequent need to alter the look of my website, allowing me to spread a little creativity and personality.

I’m guessing I’ll be spending more time there. Because random thoughts and quick captures are plenty. And not everything needs an essay.
