streaks
In the past two weeks, I managed to break both my reading and running streaks, at 122 days and 14 weeks, respectively. It was easy to feel defeated and procrastinate in the succeeding days. But I remind myself to look at the bigger picture.
Streaks are great motivators. But progress in the bigger scheme of things is more vital.

aging
Sometimes, we get frustrated that we’re getting older and dealing with life gets harder. There are plenty of times when I get mad at my parents. It’s easy to put blame on anybody other than ourselves.
We go through life at our own pace. We think of ourselves as the main character. We get mad at people who we feel do not understand us.
But one thing we often forget is that everybody’s aging. Let’s be considerate.

goodbyes are forever
I met up with two friends for dinner the other night because one of them recently got transferred back to her hometown. After hours of talking over food and drinks, we took a few photos, said our thank-yous and parted with hugs and hopeful see-you-soons. But as I went the other way, a quiet sadness settled in.
We don’t know when we’ll meet again. I hate to be pessimistic, but I’m not sure when, or if, it’ll happen again.
Distance will certainly make things harder. Technology helps, but I've always preferred real presence. The deep talks. The comfortable silence.
